Flying High: Sawmill Sports Hub and Synapse SRT Support Tuskegee NEXT
At Sawmill Sports Hub and Synapse SRT at Sawmill, we’ve always believed in the power of community, philanthropy, and giving back. Our team is dedicated to fostering a culture of support, and that’s why we were honored to attend the recent Red Tail Ball, a fundraiser for the incredible organization, Tuskegee NEXT.
Honoring a Legacy of Excellence
Tuskegee NEXT carries on the powerful legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen—the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Corps. These courageous men proved that intelligence, skill, and patriotism know no color, and their outstanding record during World War II is a testament to their determination and skill.
The organization’s mission is to transform the lives of young people by providing aviation education, career opportunities, and life skills training. Through their “Three Pillars”—Flight Training, Life Skills Development, and Career Pathways—Tuskegee NEXT prepares a new generation of leaders to take flight. This includes providing daily classes, flight simulators, and solo flight experiences, allowing cadets to earn their private pilot and drone certificates. The program also focuses on leadership training, mentorship, and corporate site visits to equip students with the tools they need for success in aviation and in life.
A Golden Night to Remember
The 2025 Red Tail Ball was a special night, marking 10 years of Tuskegee NEXT’s life-changing work. It was a celebration of purpose, filled with joy, music, and connection. The event also honored incredible trailblazers, including computer engineer Dr. Mark E. Dean with the Trailblazer Award and Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Emanuel Welch with the Legacy Award. The event also presented the Dr. Tammera L. Holmes Award to 2025 cadet Christian Copeland, which fully funds his summer aviation program.
Seeing the impact of this organization firsthand and celebrating its mission with fellow supporters was truly inspiring for our leadership team. We’re proud to support an organization that not only honors history but actively builds a better future for our youth.
At Sawmill, we know that building a strong community means lifting each other up. Supporting organizations like Tuskegee NEXT is more than just an event; it’s a commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders.
